I saw Ore Kadal on last Sunday. It is Shyamaprasad’s 4th venture as a director. I went with 2 of my friends Bibin n Srijith. I don’t know what was there expectation, After the interval Bibin went out as the film doesn’t contain any comedy and full sentiments ;-) He expected a comedy film from Shyamaprasad.. :-). Anyway I liked the movie very much.
Based on a novel by Bengali writer Sunil Gangopadhyay, Ore Kadal tells the story of S.R. Nathan, an economist who is acknowledged internationally. Has got so many books and other publications in his name and lot many awards. He calls himself a social scientist who has nothing to do with emotions, especially those like love, family attachments etc. He is drawn to women, who for him are just a physical entity to meet his needs. He does not believe in maintaining a relationship with any kind of commitment or emotional bonding.
But truly the film is not about Nathan, it’s about Deepthi, a young good looking lady who is living with his husband and a child in another floor where Nathan is living. Her husband lost his job and they are struggling real hard for there living. When Jayakumar (Deepthis husband) is away, somewhat different kind of relationship begins between Deepthi and Nathan. Deepthi is aware that she is doing wrong to herself, but she cant resist.
The film is going through the mental stresses suffering by Deepthi. Mammootty plays Nathan’s role. The very impressive Meera Jasmine plays Deepthis role and Naren (Sunil) plays Jayakumar’s role. The only other main role in the film is Remya Krishnan’s.. Only these four are acting through out. Meera Jasmine did really excellent work as Deepthi, simply superb.. Hats off!!
Ouseppachan did the background scoring and the music of the film. All the tracks in this flick are based on Subha Panthuvarali Raga. Its for the first time all songs in a film are using the same Raga. Excellent work by Ouseppachan. VineethSrinivasan, his luck continues, he got the HIT song of the film yet again..Nagaram vidhuram.. Eriyum Hrudayam.... He told in one interview that it was sodifficult to sang this one.. As there so many low notes and high notes.. so the song was fully edited by singing portion by portion!! And regarding the direction, one scene was just to say a NO by Mammootty. The same scene had been taken 5 times just to get the right feel. Mammootty, the actor who got maximum number of Bharat awards in the nation was asked to take a scene which says just a NO, 5 times... This is Shyamaprasad, the perfectionist!! One of the greatfilms from the Maestro. I just loved it.. Hats off to ShyamaPrasad. The important thing is that its been running in many theaters for the past 50+ days..
